The collective members learn everything I learn. We teach each other. As I continue to equip and empower them with continuing education and business knowledge, my goal is that these women will continue to grow this project for themselves. I will always be with them, but their strength will allow them to become more and more independent.
This week we held the last of our three month workshop series on sexual health for the teenagers in Chacaya. Luz began with a science lesson including videos to help kids understand what goes on inside our bodies, followed by Q&A. Over the past months the kids have gotten less and less shy to speak up. And this workshop culminated in a wonderful debate and discussion of the ways that gender inequality, religion, and culture influence our decisions about our bodies - and if/how science and knowledge have a place too.
